A block of shares (Swedish: aktiepost) is a consecutive number series of shares that, at a given time, is owned by the same shareholder and has identical historical information. An example is share numbers 1–500 acquired on the same occasion and terms.
In the share ledger, holdings are often presented per block of shares. In a transfer of shares or a pledge of part of the block, it is divided into new blocks. This makes it possible to trace the history of every share and to give a correct ownership picture.
