A bonus share right (Swedish: fondaktierätt) is the right an existing shareholder has to receive new shares, known as bonus shares, in a bonus issue. The number depends on the existing holding. It is also called a fractional right (delrätt), since several rights may be needed for one new share.
A bonus issue changes the number of shares and may change owners' stakes if rights are not fully used. The new shares must be entered in the share ledger with share numbers and owners.

A bonus issue raises share capital using the company's own funds, without new capital being added.
