Company (Swedish: bolag) is a collective term for business forms in which an economic activity is run jointly, for example a limited company, a trading partnership or a limited partnership. A sole proprietorship, by contrast, is not a company in this sense. A limited company is a legal entity with limited liability for its owners.
Only limited companies are required under the Swedish Companies Act to keep a share ledger. The share ledger shows who owns the company's shares and is the basis for a correct ownership picture.

A limited company is a business form that is its own legal entity and is owned through shares.
