Today, there are more than 900 share ledgers spread across several sub-groups, resulting in a high level of legal and administrative complexity.

Beatrice Löfling, a paralegal at Balder, plays a central role in matters of corporate formalities. When she joined the organisation four years ago, she was presented with a substantial project:

– My first task was to digitalise our share ledgers, which was a massive undertaking. Without a system like NVR, it would have been difficult to manage, Beatrice explains.

From manual and fragmented to digital control

Before NVR, most share ledgers were still physical, stored in binders, and some were kept in Excel files. Finding the right share ledger was often time-consuming, an unsustainable situation in operations where transactions can occur both quickly and frequently.

Another important task was to increase awareness of the importance of the share ledger in connection with transactions. The need often became clear only once a transaction was already underway, at which point the share ledger had to be produced quickly.

NVR is now a natural tool in Beatrice’s daily work. She uses it to update existing share ledgers, add new companies, and register events such as pledges, notes, and other entries. It is also crucial for quickly producing documentation for colleagues and auditors, and not least for providing smooth support during transactions and transfers.

With NVR, Balder has gained an entirely new level of internal accessibility. When colleagues and auditors can independently retrieve the information they need, without burdening specific individuals, the organization becomes less vulnerable and work flows more smoothly, even at a high pace.

– Previously, it could take time to locate a share ledger in the archive. Now it takes just a few clicks. That creates a sense of security, and you know that nothing gets lost, Beatrice says.
