An annual general meeting (Swedish: årsstämma) is the ordinary general meeting that a limited company is required by law to hold once a year, within six months of the end of the financial year. It is at the annual general meeting that the shareholders exercise their influence.
At the annual general meeting, the annual report is adopted, decisions are made on dividends and discharge from liability, and board members and, where applicable, an auditor are elected. Votes are allocated according to holdings and voting rights. An up-to-date shareholder register determines who may vote.

The general meeting is the highest decision-making body in a limited company, where shareholders make decisions.
