A share (Swedish: aktie) is a unit of ownership in a limited company. Its owner is a shareholder and as a rule has the right to vote at the general meeting and to receive part of the company's dividend. Shares can be of different share classes with different voting power or dividend rights.
Each share has its own share number and must be entered in the share ledger together with the owner's name, personal or company registration number and postal address. The share ledger shows who owns which shares.

A limited company is a business form that is its own legal entity and is owned through shares.
